Findlay is interim head of museums and collections at Culture Perth and Kinross
The Museums Association (MA) has announced that Gillian Findlay, the interim head of museums and collections at Culture Perth and Kinross, is its new vice-president.
Findlay, who was appointed by the MA board, has been a trustee at the association since April 2017.
“I’m thrilled to have been invited to become the Museums Association’s vice-president,” Findlay said. “Having been a member for more than 15 years, on the board for two and having participated in a number of its research and advocacy projects recently, it’s a real honour to be able to represent the MA and its members across the UK and to support the work of the president, board and staff in this role.”
At Culture Perth and Kinross, Findlay is responsible for Perth Museum and Art Gallery, Fergusson Gallery and Alyth Museum. She joined the organisation from Museums and Galleries Edinburgh, where she was the curatorial and engagement manager. She began her career as a volunteer at Edinburgh’s Museum of Childhood.
Findlay will work closely with Maggie Appleton, the MA president and chief executive of the RAF Museum, and MA director Sharon Heal.
Findlay will give a keynote speech at the MA's Northern Ireland members’ meeting in Belfast on 6 June.
