One-day conference takes place at Wellcome Collection, London, on 30 April
The Museums Association (MA) has unveiled initial details for its next one-day conference on exhibition design.
Amazing Spaces: New Thinking on Exhibition Design will take place at the Wellcome Collection in London on 30 April. The conference will have a particular focus on engaging audiences as part of the exhibition design process.
Andrea Cunningham, the interim lead and head of learning for the V&A Museum of Childhood, and Angus Ryan and José Esteves De Matos, founders of architects De Matos Ryan, will present on the co-design process behind the redevelopment of the V&A Museum of Childhood.
This has involved consultation with local schoolchildren, families, teachers and museum staff in “iterative, user centred processes over predetermined design outcomes”.
Other speakers will include Hannah Fox, the director of projects and programmes at Derby Museums, Anila Ladwa, a curator, producer and researcher at Horniman Museum & Gardens, and Gail Symington, the director, collections and public engagement at Royal Museums Greenwich, on the impact of co-curation on design.
National Museums Scotland and the Wellcome Collection will also be represented. Full details of the conference programme will be announced in due course.
The day is aimed at anyone involved in creating temporary or permanent displays and exhibitions, with tickets from £55. It will run from 1030, with registration and access to the Wellcome Collection from 0900.
