The Museums Association (MA) Conference and Exhibition programme is ready to explore online. Visit our web app to browse the sessions – with more to be added in the coming weeks.
This year’s Conference and Exhibition takes place at Brighton Conference Centre on 3-5 October 2019. Featuring keynotes and sessions on the theme ‘Sustainable and Ethical Museums in a Globalised World,’ the programme is designed to provoke debate, exchange new practice, and inspire activism in the face of local and global challenges.
MA director Sharon Heal will open the conference with a session titled: ‘Museum activism in an age of intolerance.’
The wide-ranging ideas on the agenda include: how to wean the cultural sector off fossil fuels, the future of the post-colonial museum, the consequences of #MeToo for the museum workforce, ethical sponsorship, sustaining regional galleries, and bullying in museums.
This year’s conference will be hosted by Subhadra Das, historian and curator at UCL Culture as well as a comedian and current Art Fund Headley fellow. Throughout the event, speakers will explore how museums of all sizes can make an impact in their local communities and beyond.
Our list of free exhibition seminars is also online. An opportunity to network and develop new ideas, the exhibition is free to attend and features practical seminars, on-stand demonstrations and special offers from a range of companies.
